The OTR Mission: Inspire the Journey

Music is more than lessons—it’s a lifelong companion. At On The Road Music, we’re building the kind of school we wish existed for our own families: one that’s convenient for parents, inspiring for students, and rewarding for instructors.

We start with in-home lessons because it’s the easiest way for families to say “yes” to music. But that’s only the beginning. Students jam with their instructors, build rhythm, and play songs they love. Then, when they’re ready, they connect with their peers and even take the stage alongside our Staff Band—a group made up of OTR instructors who perform gigs and invite students to “sit in” when the time is right.

Being an OTR instructor means more than running lessons. You’ll be a musical guide—often the most musically literate person a family will interact with. That’s a big responsibility, but also an incredible opportunity to shape a household into a musical one.

We don’t believe in rigid scripts. We give you resources like our Road Map Curriculum to draw from, but the magic is in adapting lessons to each student’s unique personality and learning style. The real goal? Inspire students to love music so much they’ll carry it with them for life.

And here’s the part most studios miss: if our instructors are happy, valued, and well-paid, everything else falls into place. Students stay longer, families feel supported, and communities grow stronger. That’s why our teachers stick around, and our students average over three years with us—far longer than the typical music school.

On The Road Music is not your average lesson studio. We’re a movement of musicians building something bigger together.

Why Teach With Us?

  • Flexible Freedom – Set your own schedule and work directly with your students and families.
  • Valued & Well-Paid – Instructors earn $50/hour when teaching multiple instruments (piano, guitar, drums). We know great teachers make the difference, and we back that up with pay that reflects your value.
  • More Than Just Lessons – From in-home lessons to camps, classes, field trips, and our Staff Band, you’ll help create a rich and varied learning experience.
  • Handpicked Team – We only hire musicians who are passionate, professional, and invested in their students’ growth.
  • Long-Term Relationships – Our average student stays with us for over three years, giving you consistent work, deeper progress, and meaningful connections.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Passionate musicians who love teaching
  • Reliable, professional, and self-motivated instructors
  • Strong communicators who adapt to different learning styles
  • Teachers with experience in guitar, piano, drums, voice, or other instruments
